  • Prank revenge

Joey 5:46 pm on August 26, 2008 Permalink | Reply

Over the past years Tripp and I have been really great friends. Growing up we lived on the same street, went to Laney High School together, marched on the drumline and have rocked out each Wednesday night for the last five years together. But one thing Tripp doesn’t quite understand is that I am older and with that comes wisdom and experience. A few years ago Tripp began a prank war with me which quickly ended after an affectionate message was painted on his school rock in front of Laney. The message read ” Tripp loves Nick” (the other accomplice to the pranks) on all sides of the rock in bright red with white backing. Clearly visible from North College Rd by all who drove by.
About two weeks ago I got in my car and cranked it to done myself in a shower of little white paper dots from the hole puncher on my office, which had been put in my Air condition vents. Yep, it was none other than Tripp Kennedy.
So last week I was asked to dispose of a large bag of popcorn kernals that had been left opened and now had roaches in it. But instead of disposing of it I put this huge bag of kernals to much better use last night after band practice.

I don’t think the pictures do this bag of kernels ANY justice. Let me explain: this bag was infested with cockroaches. To put it plainly-It was not something you want squirming around in your car. the end.

      Hahaha!
Thats a good one, me, brittany, and sarah got a ride with him the other day and were all wondering why there was popcorn kernels all over.
      This explains it.

  • John Mayer Concert! Where the Light is…

Joey 11:51 pm on August 20, 2008 Permalink | Reply

Yesterday I along with my wife Tonya and Jordan from church drove up to Charlotte to see John Mayer in concert. I must say it was totally worth the drive up and back. With out a doubt John Mayer is an incredible musician. I have never seen a solo artist handle a guitar the way he does and then in the same breath follow up with amazing vocal work. His ability to sing falsetto in near perfect pitch is amazing. His band was professional without a doubt and helped him carry his craft the way it should be presented. Our seats were pretty good they were the section in front of the lawn so you can’t really see him in the pics but we had a pretty good line of sight. It was interesting as I listened to John speak between songs he mentioned more than once that he accomplished most of the “worldly things” you could accomplish. I don’t know if John Mayer is a christian and I know he is surely not a christian artist, but I do believe he has questions. Questions about what’s next. In this life he has accomplished more than most could ever dream of, but what happens from this point on? To use the word “worldly” shows he must have a consideration for another “experience or dimension,” more likely than not, a spiritual one. It is interesting to thinkhow many others are pondering the same question, not just people with celebrity status but the people we interact with everyday. Are we showing them where the light is?

Adam, Matt and my brother Philip came over to cook some steaks for dinner. So what did we have with it? Potatoes duh? The menu: 6 steaks, 1 bag of waffle fries, 1/2 bag of tots and Pepsi. A meal from heaven!

  • …Aaaaaaand Action!

Today was a pretty cool day. One of my students Jared is a young man with huge dreams and a real heart. Jared is an upcoming 9th grader and an active actor here in Wilmington. He has a real passion that God has placed in his heart for making Christian films. For the last 8 months Jared has been writing a great script that parallels Shakespeares Romeo and Juiet. Jared is directing and acting in the movie. My brother-in- law of innerfilm productions and his associate Martin are filming the entire project in HD. Brey Warren another one of my students and an actress here in Wilmington is plays the other main character. So today I showed up on the set to work the slate and snap a couple pics. Today they filmed two movie theater scenes at Mayfair.

  • New desk!

    Tags: desk

So the other say I got a call that there was a desk stored away in the garage that no one was using. Like most stuff that gets thrown on the garage I figured it needed some work or was in not good shape, but I went out there to take a look anyway. What I found was pretty cool, it was a perfect desk. It would work great in my office and matched my other table. Who would have guessed? So I then needed to clean my office because it was a huge mess and I just couldn’t get organized. So I did that and put in place. Why does that matter to you, well it gives you a reason to come and see me!

  • Echoloud cookout

Joey 2:37 am on August 10, 2008 Permalink | Reply

Last night we had our first echoloud cookout and I think it went great. After we finally got all the burgers cooked I had the opportunity to share my heart and what God has laid on my heart for our college students. I felt like the students are excited about what is to come. After that we had a ridiculous slip and slide, I am really surprised no one was hurt. Some of our guys were honestly trying to break the laws of gravity. Anyway it was a great night and I can’t wait to see what is to come.
