Well, who am I? I’m glad you asked. A boy from the south, born and raised in the beautiful city of Wilmington, North Carolina. If you’ve never been I hate it for you because your missing out. I’ve been guided by two wonderful parents whose example has shown me the importance of my relationship with God and others. Philip, my younger brother is my polar opposite, but never ceases to make me laugh. I am a husband of a beautiful woman, Tonya Todd. She is the greatest Godsend to my life and my source of daily encouragement. Another portion of my heart holds my love for the students of Detour at Scotts Hill Baptist Church. I have been working there since I graduated high school and thank God for bringing the church into my life and allowing me to partner with some of the greatest people this side of God’s Kingdom.
What is my desire? My desire is to see students experience a life change that only comes from God. My hope is that I represent Jesus Christ in reaching the lost, that means bringing in the students most don’t want coming to their church. I believe God has called the church to reach out to those students, those adults, those children. Personally, I believe we should do anything short of sin to see authentic life change in students and show them true life in Jesus Christ.
Music is something that inspires me more than any other medium. As a drummer in the Detour Student Band over the last five years God has shown me the power He has in music. After all He is the Conductor of this lifes cadence.

I don’t know if you check this or not, but i couldn’t find your e-mail so. I found this really cool song, i don’t know if you’ve heard it or not. By your side by tenth avenue north. The cool thing about it is that it is speaking from God’s point of view. I just found it the other day and it really spoke to me. And I let Summer listen to it and she loved it. I just think that it would be really cool to hear at detour sometime. Here’s the link if you want to listen to it.

Dear Joey,
Today at lunch me and some of my friends got to talking about Detour last night. Everyone said about the same thing “It was AMAZING” Some of them were brought to tears by your message and the rest were very deeply moved. I just felt like you should know the feed back, about how so many of us kids look up to you, and how greatly God moves through you. We can all see it.
So thank you! From me, and some friends :]

Dear Joey,
God Bless and hope all is well.
Detour last night was amazing. So moving. I feel like it was a topic that hadn’t been covered yet. You guys did a phenominal job. Everyone was talking about it at school today. I loved the skits, they could really tie into our own lives and thing we go through everyday. One of the hardest things in life is to pray for and forgive the person that has hurt you the most, and I really needed that. I didn’t see you after the service to tell you thank you, so I decided to comment this. Haha. Thank you so much, you’ve really helped me think twice and to let things go rather then carry it around untill I dump it on someone else.
